16 Films You Have To Watch This Christmas
For my final blog post of the year I had to make it about Christmas! I had so many plans to create loads of festive content – but like everything this year, it didn’t go to plan😂 But I will try again next year!
Now, enough of the rambling – let’s get onto the actual blog post.
I absolutely love Christmas – it just makes my heart happy. One thing that I love doing at this time of year is watching cosy films. The majority of the films mentioned are actual Christmas films – but I have mentioned a couple that aren’t necessarily Christmas related, but I just enjoy watching at this time of year. I could have mentioned so many more – but I didn’t want to bore you😂
This won’t be the most informational blog post, but I just thought that it would be a bit of fun to have a chat about some Christmas films.
I have also created a check list so you can tick them off after you’ve watched! So, enjoy and look after yourself this Christmas🧡
Disney+
If I’m wanting to watch something feel-good then Disney+ is usually the first place that I look.
Home Alone 1&2
These films are some of the classics that are re-watched year after year. I’ve only mentioned 1 & 2 as the general consensus is that the ones after that are a bit shit…😂 What are your thoughts?
The Santa Claus
I haven’t watched this film for a few years, but when I saw it on Disney+ I knew that I had to add it to this list as it another classic. There are 3 films in this collection, but I think I may have only seen the first one! So, will definitely be trying to watch the other two over the next few weeks.
The Muppet Christmas Carol
This is one of my all-time favourite Christmas films, so obviously it had to get a mention. I’m not sure why I love this film so much – maybe its just the combination of a classic story mixed with a bit of silliness because of The Muppets. But whatever the reason is, I know that it’s quite a few people’s favourite too.
Frozen
I know that some people are completely against Frozen at Christmas because it’s not actually set at this time. However, I just love feel-good, heart-warming films and all of the Frozen films and shorts are that for me.
Netflix
I was hoping that Netflix would be filled with all things Christmas – but it’s not really. I have spotted a few new films that I may watch. But I still managed to find a few of my favourites on there.
The Grinch
The newer animated version of The Grinch is currently on Netflix and I just absolutely love it! The original is another one of my favourite Christmas films (mentioned below) but I still had to give this one a mention as it is slightly different, but just as good!
Arthur Christmas
Another one of my favourites! I always cry in this film; no matter how many times I watch it. It’s just one of those films that makes me happy🧡
The Holiday
This is another film that I haven’t seen in ages, but I used to adore it! It’s definitely on my “to watch” list this year!
Nativity
You’ll probably get sick of me saying this, but Nativity is another one of my favourites. Well only the first two, we won’t talk about the rest…😂
Other
Harry Potter
This is another set of films that aren’t necessarily Christmassy – but I just really enjoy watching around the festive period.
Do you have a favourite Harry Potter film? Let me know in the comments below.
(available on Now TV Cinema Pass or to purchase on Amazon Prime)
Elf
Elf is another one of my favourite Christmas films! It’s just so funny and light-hearted and one of my favourite films to watch at this time of year.
(available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime)
Jack Frost
It was only a few years ago that I was introduced to this film by one of my uni housemates. It’s one of his favourite Christmas films, so we watched it together and sobbed our hearts out.
(available to purchase on Amazon Prime for £5.99)
How The Grinch Stole Christmas
As mentioned above this is one of my all-time favourite Christmas films and has been for as long as I can remember! I watch this over and over every year and I still love it just as much!!🧡
(available on Now TV or to buy for £3.99 on Amazon Prime)
Love Actually
If you’re looking for romance this Christmas, then Love Actually is the film for you! It’s got love, it’s got laughter, it’s got Christmas – what more could you ask for?
(available to buy for £3.99 on Amazon Prime)
Polar Express
This is another heart-warming feel-good film that just always makes me cry!
(available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime)
The Man Who Invented Christmas
This film came out in 2018 and when I watched it last year, I instantly loved it! I’m a big fan of the classic Scrooge story – but this film tells it while focussing on it’s original author Charles Dickens. It has an amazing cast and if you haven’t watched it already and are a fan of the classic story – I definitely recommend giving it a watch!
(available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime)
Fred Claus
Fred Claus has a classic storyline filled with humour and silliness – yet still always makes me cry😂
(available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime)
And that’s it! A short and sweet final blog post of the year.
How many of these films have you seen? And how many are now on your “to watch” list? Have I missed some absolute MUST WATCH films? Let me know in the comments below.
I hope you’re all safe and well. And thank you for your constant love and support – it really means the world🥰
