If you’ve ever had a conversation with me, there’s a high chance that we would have spoken about my boobs. Whether I bring them up, someone else does, or they’re brought up a different way; my boobs are often a part of my everyday conversations.

Everyone has some sort of ‘boobage’, it’s just women’s that are typically discussed more. Whether they’re “too big” or “too small” or “too” something else, someone always has something to say about someone else’s boobs.

As someone who isn’t the most body confident, my boobs are something that I find confidence in. I don’t show my boobs for anybody, I do it because it makes me feel good about my body.

But boobs aren’t just sexual objects that are nice to look at and fun to play with, they’re important parts of the human body and no one should be made to feel ashamed or uncomfortable with the way that theirs are. Check out Lizzo’s Instagram page below for some inspiring images on why all boobs and all bodies are just great.

According to ‘Breast Cancer Care’, “1 in 8 women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime”. This shows that a larger number of us will either get breast cancer or know someone who has, does, or will have it. Cancer Research UK states that “around two-thirds (65%) of women survive for twenty years or more”. Plus, “breast cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK”. We are continually working to improve survival rates and help find a cure for breast cancer.

It must also be stated that men can also get breast cancer. Although, it is rarer with “about 390 men diagnosed each year in the UK”. It is still a possibility for men.

The aim of this blog post is to try and encourage more people to be open about what is happening with their bodies and not to feel embarrassed if something isn’t right.

It is important that we all check our boobs for any lumps, bumps, or any differences in their shape and size. CoppaFeel is an amazing charity who understand that breast cancer has an impact on everyone and it’s not just older people who can get it. They have done some amazing work and promote checking your boobs regularly; with a variety of hints and tips. Check out their Instagram below.

I don’t want this post to be all doom and gloom. I want it to be somewhere that both men and women can learn about their boobs and understand that having boobs (whatever they’re like) is normal. And that people are in control of their own bodies and they have the choice to do what they like, when they like with them.
